Tom Bacon has been assisting clients with their commercial real estate needs since 1984. He started as an office broker in Southern California; first with the Charles Dunn Company where he was awarded “Rookie of the Year” and then at Cushman & Wakefield. While at Cushman & Wakefield, Tom specialized in tenant representation in West Los Angeles and he was involved in numerous assignments including a 340,000 square foot, office lease, the largest, private sector lease ever signed in the Los Angeles region at the time. Tom has navigated his clients through numerous leasing and sales transactions. He has tackled just about every type of commercial real estate transaction, but focuses on office leasing and sales. In 1991 Tom moved to Sacramento and worked with Newmark Cornish & Carey. He specialized in office leasing and sales. As time went on, Tom expanded his market coverage to include most of Sacramento's suburban markets. In addition to leasing and selling office properties, Tom has been involved with numerous sales in the Midtown & Downtown markets for residential development. In 2003, Tom founded Bacon Commercial Real Estate and since then has leased and sold over 1,000,000 SF including leases with the following: representing large institutional projects and representing occupiers including many local mid-size companies, Fortune 500 Companies, the State of California, Non Profits and, Associations. In the summer of 2004, Karen began pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a real estate investor by purchasing a 4-unit apartment building in Enterprise, AL right outside Fort Rucker, the Home of United States Army Aviation. She lived onsite for about 15 years and self managed every aspect, from tenant management to maintenance and renovations to dealing with city ordinances. About six months after purchasing the building, she received her Alabama real estate license, followed by her broker license in 2013. As a 2022 Notre Dame graduate, I spent my freshmen and sophomore years with aspirations to become a lawyer, my junior year figuring out that there's more to real estate than HGTV, and my senior year meeting with 60 professionals in 6 weeks to secure a brokerage internship and full time return offer from JLL, the second largest commercial real estate firm in the world. After 2.5 years managing multimillion-dollar real estate portfolios, my definition of success began to shift. I noticed that the conversations I looked forward to most weren’t with Fortune 500 clients, but with college students pursuing a career in the industry. While being young and relatable, I wanted to explore this passion and find a way to maximize my impact. So, I turned down a promotion, scheduled visits with 40 real estate clubs across the country, and ultimately left JLL to launch Rapport CRE—a nonprofit that equips students to network with the CRE professionals that they aspire to become.
